Health Ministry Deploys 10 Ambulances for Festive Season

The Health Ministry has developed a fleet of 10 ambulances in the Kampala Metropolitan area and major highways to respond to emergencies during the festive period.

 
A statement from the Health Ministry shows that a crew of 60 professional ambulance officers will man the vehicles and offer emergency care. The Christmas and New Year festive seasons are characterised by pedestrian and motor vehicle accidents.
 

These lead to many casualties requiring first aid at the scene of the accident and evacuation to health facilities for critical care.  Festivities also result in an increase in patients with other emergencies from domestic violence; food poisoning; alcohol intoxication and routine emergencies.

The ambulances according to the statement will be situated in the following locations to counter such emergencies.

   
 
1.      Kampala- Jinja Highway: Ambulances will be stationed at Mukono HC IV and Kawolo Hospital.
2.      Kampala- Gulu Highway: Ambulances will be stationed at Bombo trading centre and Kasana Health Center IV.
3.      Kampala- Masaka highway: Ambulances will be stationed at Kayabwe and Kamengo
4.      Kampala- Entebbe Highway: Ambulances will be stationed at Kajjansi and Kitende
5.      Kampala- Mityana Highway: Ambulances will be stationed at Buloba and Bujjuko
6.      Kampala- Hoima Highway: Ambulances will be stationed at Kakiri and Busunju
7.      Kampala Metropolitan area: An ambulance will be stationed at  China-Uganda Friendship Hospital Naguru
