Richard Mwanja, a Go-Forward coordinator in Busoga region, says they are working in this manner because their political partners tend to be harrassed by state agents.

Presently the Go-Forward team does not have a candidate vying for any elective position in Iganga.

Iganga district is represented by 5 legislators; it has fourteen LC 3 chairpersons and 26 LC V councilors. Abdul Katuntu, one of the five legislators from Bugweri constituency belongs to the Forum for Democratic Change Party. The remaining MPs are National Resistance Movement (NRM) members. The remaining positions are dominated by the ruling National Resistance Movement.

Muzamir Kanakulya, a Go-Forward supporter, claims many people fear to be publicly associated with their candidate Amama Mbabazi. He says this is because of the hostility of NRM leaning district leaders who are determined to ensure their party retains 81% grip of elective positions available in the area.

He goes on to claim that so far 30 politicians in Iganga district have formally applied to be endorsed as The Democratic Alliance ‘Go Froward' party candidates. He declines to name the politicians, however.
