The body arrived at 8am and was received in the Parliamentary lobby at 8:30 am by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah and Deputy Premier Moses Ali.

Other legislators who received the body were Kasese woman MP Winnie Kizza, Junior Public Service Minister Seezi Mbagutta and Junior Internal Affairs Minister James Baba.

Contrary to the Muslim religion to which the departed General subscribed, his body was carried into the Parliamentary lobby in a coffin but not a Jeneza in which Muslims are carried before burial.

General Adrisi died on Sunday morning at Mulago referral Hospital where he was being treated for hypertension, diabetes and a fracture in his right leg.

The General is believed to have died at the age of 87.

He served as Vice President from 1977-1978 during former President Idi Amin Dada’s regime. Once believed to be one of Amin's closest advisors, he later fell out with his commander-in-chief. It is alleged that following this fall out, Amin tried to have him killed in a faked motor accident. Adrisi survived the attempt on his life and at the time the government was overthrown in April 1979, he was recovering from the accident.

Later this morning a special sitting is scheduled at Parliament for legislators to pay tribute to the man who also served as army chief of staff and minister of defence.
