National Basketball league playoffs resume today after the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) rushed in to pay debts owed to referees on Wednesday and Thursday.

The referees had reportedly threatened to boycott the Play-offs today at Lugogo Indoor Stadium unless their outstanding debts from last Season had been cleared.
But Ambrose Tasobya, the FUBA President told Uganda Radio Network on Friday morning that they are all set for the play-offs because referees are motivated to handle the games well.

Defending champions DMark Power will battle Uganda Christian University Canons in the men’s quarter finals game, while former champions A-1 Challenge will tussle it out against Gladiators.

Mavita Ali, team manager at A-1 Challenge told URN that their team is geared up for the game and winning the first tie will be very important because the quarter finals are best of three games.

Tashobya explained that they have managed to get Castle Lite and Rwenzori Water to sponsor the Play-offs for the top tier, while the major sponsors Airtel Uganda Ltd are also helping out.

He also said the Federation has secured three venues in Lugogo, YMCA and Makerere University ground for the play-offs and entry fees will be Shillings 10,000 for VIP section, 5,000 for Ordinary section and 2,500 for students and players.
