Four members of the same family were Monday shot dead in Kasenyi village in Kyampango parish, Rugaaga Sub County, Bukanga County, Isingiro district over suspected land wrangles. The shooting left two others critically injured.

The Regional Police Commander Rwizi, Martin Abilu identified the deceased as Kiiza Mpindi (57) head of the family, his sister Nakato Nansubuga (70), his son Nantindi Sumaili (14) and a casual labourer Katongole Suti (38).

Those critically injured are brothers Wasswa Mpindi, who is nursing bullet wounds in the legs at Rugaaga health centre four in Bukanga while Sekimpi Dirisa is hospitalized at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.

Dirisa told police that they were attacked by three men dressed in army uniform, armed with two sub machine guns SMGs. Their attackers said they had come on a revenge mission.

Information obtained from other Intelligence security agencies indicate that Kiiza Mpindi using court bailiffs on December  26 and 29, 2012  used a court order to evict over 79 squatters who lost property and crops.

Abilu said it was possible some of the assailants could be among those who were evicted and had come to revenge. He said investigations were going on.
