Samson Lubega, the south eastern police spokesperson, refused to disclose the identities of the suspects, on grounds that it could jeopardize police investigations. He however said the suspects who were arrested on Wednesday are part of a gang of robbers that have been grabbing motorcycles from boda boda riders at gun point.
 
Lubega says the suspects are being held at Nalufenya rapid response unit.
 
In another development, residents of Namutumba lynched a man on Wednesday, accusing him of riding a stolen motorcycle. The suspect has been identified as Richard Kibedi.
 
The deceased was riding a motorcycle registration number UDM 740N, when he was intercepted by an irate mob at Kaiti village in Namutumba. He was grabbed and beaten to death.
 
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
