Property worth millions has been reduced to ashes after a fire gutted a building on Elgin Street in Masaka town.

The early morning fire started from Florence Nasakka’s restaurant at Twin Tour plaza in Masaka town.

The cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown, although some traders who work in this building believe that fire could have been deliberately started by business rivals.  

Nasakka says she tried to put out the fire before calling police which also arrived in time and tamed the fire before spreading to other rooms on the building.
 
Nasakka adds that she is yet to establish how much money she lost in the inferno though she estimates her losses might total to about 20 million shillings.

The Southern region fire brigade chief Moses Muhanguzi says they are yet to establish the cause of the fire but ruled out electricity as a major cause
