Mugarura says that not all the elective positions in the political structure have been applied for, but that the District Executive Committees and district election committees are compiling the lists to ascertain the exact vacancies in key positions of Member of Parliament, district chairperson and sub-county chairpersons. Mugarura believes that this postponement will also allow more time for party members to show interest in the positions.

The party spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda says the postponed primaries is favourable for the party, not just to get aspirants in all the positions but also to allow the party understand the mode of involvement of party flag bearers in The Democratic Alliance.

The vacancies arose due to defections and deaths of members in the positions of party leadership.
