Authorities in Adumi sub-county in Arua are warning of a possible famine following two days of heavy rain that destroyed several acres of food in the area. The Adumi Production Officer, Gertrude Badaru, says several fields of staple food like sorghum, maize, sweet potato and groundnuts were flooded and destroyed. Many animals were also killed in the storm. Badaru says Kubo, Mbaraka, and Anzu parishes were worst hit by the rains. She appeals for urgent food aid to hundreds of people facing starvation. She asks the district disaster management committee and donor agencies operating in Arua district to intervene and provide food to the affected families. //Cue in: We hope to get #i Cue out: i# tears coming out.i// The Adumi Sub County Chief, Edmond Osoa, has presented a report detailing the extent of the damage to the Arua Chief Administrative Officer.
