Uganda Cranes team has embarked training ahead of the 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup and the 2014 Africa Nations Championships.

But head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic told Uganda Radio Network on Tuesday morning that the returning professional players have no obvious places on the team, but they must work hard to earn their places.

He stressed that there is no guarantee for former Cranes players who have returned home that they will have automatic inclusion in the CHAN squad.

Micho said the team had already started training with a few players on Thursday and hope to train again today and Saturday.

The Cranes will be defending the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup title when the event takes centre stage in Kenya November 27 to December 12. COSAFA defending champions Zambia and Malawi are expected to take part as guest sides.

Former professional players who have returned to the local league and stand a chance of being picked include; Godfrey Walusimbi, Patrick Ochan, Mike Mutyaba and Geoffrey Sserunkuma among others.

Although striker Emmanuel Okwi was last week handed a six month provisional license to join SC Villa, the player is yet to be registered by the club.
