The NRM party Electoral Commission has finally released the primary election results for LC 3 chairpersons and LC IV councilors in Soroti District. On October 5th 2015, NRM conducted primary elections for LC 3 chairpersons, division, sub-county, Municipal and district councilors nationwide.
 
 
However, in Soroti the party Electoral Commission withheld the poll results citing complaints of electoral malpractice from candidates. The complainants included John Robert Esaru, a contestant for the Eastern Division LC 3 chairperson's NRM party ticket, Jonathan Ekochu, LC IV councilor Pioneer ward, Andrew Ochole LC IV councilor Senior Quarters, Beatrice Aarakit LC IV Central ward and Martin Aanu LC IV councilor Akisim Ward.
 

 
The NRM Electoral Commission conducted investigations and decided to release the poll results on Saturday evening at the party offices in Soroti Senior Quarters. Musa Oroma, the Soroti NRM party registrar says that in his petition John Robert Esaru, a contestant for the Eastern Division LC 3 chairperson's NRM party ticket cited vote rigging.
 
 
He says says that when they conducted a fresh vote recount they found out that John Robert Esaru defeated his rival Justine Ooja.

The fresh vote recount shows that Esaru polled 954 votes, Justine Ooja 778 votes, Robert Engulu 430 votes and Eyagu Simon Julius Naulele came last with 71 votes.

 
There were 85 invalid votes casts. Justine Ooja has conceded defeat saying he will abide by the declaration.

John Robert Esaru is happy the poll dispute was resolved amicably. Charles Elasu, the Soroti district NRM party Chairperson has urged members to accept the poll results.
