The tournament that brings together teams from five regions of Uganda kicks off on August 3rd.

While at Kakindu training ground on Monday morning, the players vowed to avenge last year’s loss to defending champions, Kampala as well as teams from Buganda, North and North Eastern regions that out played them last season.

Asuman Bajampola, last year’s Eastern regional team captain says although the conditions have not been very good, he is glad the team has trained together early enough to form good coordination on the football pitch. He says last year the team was together for only two days.

Dennis Magumba, one of the team’s top attackers says he has trained with his team mates and hopes to score goals as he leads the attack. The striker says the morale is good and the managers are taking good care of the players.

Amin Bbosa, head of the Eastern regional football team says at first the problem was money to feed, treat and transport players for the residential training in Jinja. This, he says, has been overcome after sympathizers came in to help the team. The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has also given the teams money for the tournament.
