A planned mass rally organized by the Democratic Party (DP) yesterday afternoon finally kicked off over four hours late due logistical problems. The DP spokesperson, Betty Nambooze, said the police called the party officials to request them not to hold their rally yesterday. She said the police were afraid that if the DP held a public rally on the same day as the National Resistance Movement and Nasser Ntege Ssebagala, supporters of the rival presidential candidates would clash. //Cue in: iThey have an advice #i Cue out: i# be there.i// The Kampala Regional Police Commander, Benson Oyo Nyeko, refuted claims that the police sabotaged the DP rally. He said the DP didn't inform the authorities of its plans in time. //Cue in: iWe saw people #i Cue out: i# the security.i// About 150 people gathered at the Constitutional Square welcomed the DP presidential candidate, John Ssebaana Kizito. Betty Nambooze said the DP will launch its manifesto next week in Luweero.
