David Bahati Declared Ndorwa West NRM Flag Bearer

David Bahati, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West County, has been declared winner of the NRM Party primary elections in the area. Morris Kaitaba, the NRM party registra in Kabale, declared Bahati winner this morning. Bahati emerged winner after beating his sole challenger Charles Musekura by 21,970 votes to Charles 13,504 votes. Speaking shortly after his victory, Bahati said he was happy because the NRM polls in Ndorwa were free and fair compared to violence that characterized the campaign period. During the campaigns, eight soldiers were arrested for allegedly bribing voters in Ndorwa West. Olivia Wawire, the Southwestern Regional Police Commander, says the soldiers were traveling in a bus, registration number UAL 857R and had with them letters of appointment from Charles Museruka, hiring them as his campaign agents. Meanwhile, the race for the LC V seat flag bearer remains tight. Provisional results show Morris Patrick Besigye Keihwa, in the lead with 40,552 votes, followed by Fred Ruhakana, with22, 375 votes, Rev.Jack Katarishangwa is in the third position with 16,553 votes and Dennis Nzeirwe, is trailing with 1,548 Votes. Results from Bukinda, Ikumba, Kamwezi,Nyamweru sub-counties and Kabale municipality, are not yet in. Provisional results also show Hope Mwesigye, the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament, in the lead with 47,481 votes, against the 29,474 votes so far garnered by her closest challenger, Ronah Ninsiima. Alice Bongyeirwe is trailing with 27,660 votes. Vote tallying continues today.
