Uganda Cranes will open their 2015 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup campaign against defending champions Kenya on November 22 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


In the draw made on Wednesday Cecafa giants Uganda are grouped in Pool B alongside Burundi, Somalia and Kenya. The hosts Ethiopia have been grouped alongside Rwanda, Tanzania and Somalia in Group A.

"We have also invited Malawi as the guests this year," said Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary General of the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa).


Musonye said the tournament which will take place November 21 to December 5th will run in the three cities of Hawassa, Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa. According to the organizers Uganda Cranes will play their next two group games out of Addis Ababa


Kenya's Harambee Stars are the defending champions after they defeating Sudan in the final during the 2013 event. The regional tournament was not held last year after Ethiopia withdrew from hosting the event. 


He clarified that Eritrea will not take part in the event because of their political tensions with the hosts Ethiopia.  Besides having political tensions with Ethiopia, Eritrea have also had several of their players disappear after tournaments and instead request for asylum.
