An injunction restraining the electoral commission of the Makerere University from carrying out fresh elections at the school of education scheduled on Wednesday 23rd March, 2016, reads in part the court injunction.

High court has issued a temporary injunction stopping Makerere University Electoral Commission from conducting fresh guild polls at the school of education pending the disposal of a suit challenging the polls on April 20th.

"An injunction restraining the electoral commission of the Makerere University from carrying out fresh elections at the school of education scheduled on Wednesday 23rd March, 2016," reads in part the court injunction.

The Makerere University election tribunal had ordered for the fresh polls following a petition by Roy Ssemboga, one of the candidates challenging the polls on grounds of electoral malpractices at the school of education.

Ssemboga petitioned the Tribunal after the Makerere University Electoral Commission declared his rival, Bazil Mwotta winner of the guild polls. Mwotta polled 4,594 beating Ssemboga who polled 4,276.

However, Ssembogo claimed that there were glaring mal practices in those two polling stations before he sought for fresh voting.
