Mbale High Court Judge, Henry Kawesa concluded hearings on Monday evening and scheduled ruling for Tuesday afternoon.

Mbale High court will on Tuesday afternoon rule on a petition by Sarah Achieng Opendi, the Tororo District Woman MP.

Opendi is challenging the results of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries in which she lost to Jacinta Ayo.

In a court session on Monday evening, Justice Henry Kawesa, the Mbale High Court Judge said he will rule on the application on Tuesday afternoon.

Opendi claims the elections were marred by irregularities including voter bribery, intimidation and ballot stuffing, among others. She had earlier petitioned the NRM electoral commission which did not find any merit in Opendi's claim.

Tanga Odoi, the NRM electoral commission chairman maintained Ayo's election as the flag bearer for Tororo District Woman MP seat.

Ayo has accordingly booked for nomination with the Electoral Commission on Wednesday.

However, Opendi has rushed to court seeking an interim injunction to block Ayo's nomination.

She wants court to restrain the Electoral Commission from nominating Ayo until the main suit in which she has sued both the NRM electoral commission and Ayo is disposed off.

Opendi, who is also Minister of State for Primary Health care is being represented by Mujurazi Arinaitwe of Mujurazi and Company advocates, the NRM electoral commission is represented by Esau Isingoma and Ayo is defended by Alfred Madaba.

The Electoral Commission has set 2nd and 3rd December for the nominations of parliamentary candidates.
