Prince Wambuzi, one of the 11 royal hereditary chiefs of Busoga petitioned the high court to stop Gabula from assuming the seat that was entrusted to him in 2008 following the death of his father Henry Waako Muloki, the Former Isebantu of Busoga.

Tensions mount in Jinja as loyalists await a court decision on a petition filed by Prince Edward Columbus Wambuzi of Bulamogi challenging the election of William Gabula Nadiope IV, the designate Kyabazinga of Busoga.

Last evening the same court temporarily halted all activities preceding the coronation of the Kyabazinga slated for Saturday September 13, 2014 pending its ruling expected today.

Prince Wambuzi, one of the 11 royal hereditary chiefs of Busoga petitioned the high court to stop Gabula from assuming the seat that was entrusted to him in 2008 following the death of his father Henry Waako Muloki, the Former Isebantu of Busoga.

Through his lawyer, Alex Atuhimbise of Matovu and Matovu Company advocates, prince Wambuzi also accuses the royal chiefs of double standards by turning against him.

He seeks court to order for all parties that have blocked him to leave and let him access the office of the Kyabazinga since he was elected in a normal process and taken through the rituals and practices for a new king in Busoga.

Jinja resident judge Godfrey Namondi told Uganda Radio Network that the ruling would be delivered today Friday at 2pm. As many await the Ruling, scores are also preparing for the Coronation of Prince William Gabula Nadiope IV which is planned for tomorrow at the seat of the Kyabazinga in Bugembe, Jinja. Archways have been erected all over Busoga in preparation for the even.

Gabula’s proposed coronation follows his recent election on 23rd August this year during a chief’s royal council meeting attended by ten out of the eleven hereditary chiefs mandated to elect the Kyabazinga.
Prince Juma Munulo of Bunya chiefdom says the case in court has no merit.
