At the Busoga Diocesan headquarters at Christ Cathedral in Bugembe, it is all joy after the news of Canon Egesa’s appointment trickled through. Agnes Naida, a secretary at the diocesan office said in a telephone interview that they will miss his hard work and dedicated service but noted that Egesa has become a missionary going outside the diocese to spread the gospel.

The youth chairperson in Busoga Diocese Godfrey Nabwiso says Canon Egesa deserved the new appointment because he is a committed and faithful servant of God who executes his duties in a Godly manner.

Canon Egesa who was born on March 23 1963 has been among the possible candidates to replace Bishop Kyomya who is due to retire in two years time.
He also crosses over to Bukedi Diocese at a time when preparations are underway to curve two more dioceses, Central Busoga at Iganga and East Busoga at Bugiri from the mother Busoga Diocese.

He has been at the forefront of translating the Bible into Lusoga through the Uganda Bible Society and indeed according to him the full bible in Lusoga language will be out next year.
