At least 33 bodies are now at the University of Juba Teaching hospital following the Monday morning accident at Situ in South Sudan.

The Director General of Juba Teaching Hospital, Dr Wani Lolik Ladu, is quoted by Radio Miraya as saying the bodies are badly mutilated. Dr Wani says only four survivors were brought to the hospital and that their condition is critical but stable.

The director says that of the dead, only five are from South Sudan with the rest being "foreigners." The majority are believed to be Ugandans since the bus they were travelling in was from Kampala heading to Juba.

The accident occurred at about 7am at Nisitu, some 135 kilometres from Juba, when a Bakulu company bus registration number UAS 073P collided with a trailer registration number UAB 300E.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa regional police spokesperson, says the driver of the trailer was driving on the left and yet he was already supposed to change to the right as he had entered South Sudan.
