Bishop Ilukor Rushed to Mbale Hospital After Snake Bite

The Retired Bishop for Church of Uganda (CoU), Soroti Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Geresom Ilukor has been rushed to Mbale hospital in critical condition after he was bitten by a snake.
 
Bishop Ilukor has been admitted to Masaba private wing where doctors are fighting hard to save his life.
 
Bishop Ilukor’s wife Loyce Ilukor confirmed to Uganda Radio Network on phone that Bishop Ilukor had received medical treatment against snake poison by the time of filing this report.
 
She noted that the snake bit Bishop Ilukor at about 7:00 am on Friday at his home in Kidongole village, Bukedea sub-county, Bukedea district. He was reportedly getting sorghum from the house for drying.
 
Mrs Ilukor pointed out that there are three clear cuts on the Bishop's right leg showing where the snake bit him.
 
The swelling on his leg is yet to reduce.
 
George Michael Egunyu, the chairperson Soroti, told URN that he learnt of Bishop Ilukor's injury from his wife who called him later in the evening at about 7:30pm.
 
Egunyu said he was leaving Mbale this morning to go and check on the Bishop Ilukor’s condition.
