The Beligium Technical Cooperation, the development arm of the Belgium Kingdom has donated 99 million shillings to farmers in Murutoke and Busambu villages in Muhokya sub-county Kasese district, in support of an irrigation system. According to a memorandum of understanding, the money channeled through the sub-counties will benefit more than 300 farmers. Johnson Bwambale, the Muhokya sub county chairman, says the money will be used to construct water dams for both cattle keepers and cultivators. Bwambale is optimistic that if well implemented, the irrigation systems could help improve production and household incomes in the area. He said with increased production farmers will be capable of exporting some of their produce to the European markets.
