Baptist World Mission Supports IDPs in Uganda

BMS World Mission has given a 26,000 pound sterling grant to Uganda, to assist in the resettlement of Internally Displaced People in Northern Uganda. The money has been channeled through the Baptist Union of Uganda. The Baptist Union of Uganda has in the past run supplemental feeding programmes in IDP camps and, as Uganda continues to deal with an estimated 1.6 million people displaced from their homes. The latest grant will assist 1,000 of the neediest resettled households with basic necessities. The families, located in the districts of Lira and Apac, will be provided with farming tools, seeds, food, clothing, mosquito nets and blankets. BMS manager for mission partnerships, David McLellan said his organization would to do what it can to end the suffering of victims in Northern Uganda.
