Moses Aluma, the NRM candidate who lost in Arua Hill division LC 3 elections has petitioned the high court in Arua, seeking to annul the results of the recent elections.
Aluma lost the polls to the incumbent LC 3 chairperson, Romano Matua, of the FDC party.
Matua polled 1, 150 votes against the 1, 025 votes polled by Moses Aluma.
The Other candidates; Alioni Odria and independent candidate got 894 votes followed by Timothy Mandela with 629 votes and Eric Kamure of DP trailed with 112 votes.
But Aluma has rejected the results, which were declared by the district returning officer.
He claims that Matua’s victory is fraud and should be annulled.
He claims that on the day of voting, his opponent ferried people from Pajulu, Manibe and Oluko villages. He also claims that his opponents ferried in some ghost voters to vote in his favor.
He says some of the people ferried to come and vote for Matua were arrested by his supporters and handed over to police, but police has taken no action as yet.
Aluma who is currently the LC I chairperson for Old tax park cell, also accused Matua of using Arua Hill division vehicles during the campaigns.
He says he has compiled enough evidence to challenge his opponent’s victory.
But Matua says the petition does not bother him.
