The postmortem results also show that Nyakairima displayed noticeable red eyes due to reduced flow back of blood into the heart.

The doctors also stated that there were many old small areas of damaged heart muscles caused by interruption of blood supply to the heart.

The postmortem results bury earlier speculations surrounding Nyakairima's death aboard an Emirates flight from Seoul to Dubai on Friday last week.

The postmortem investigation was witnessed by key senior officers of the army and Henry Ngabirano, a brother to the late General Aronda Nyakairima.  Nyakairima will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Rukungiri on Sunday this week.
