The CAF communication department told URN on Saturday that all the 16 teams that qualified for the event will bag some money. The runner up us set to take home UGX2,900,000,0000.
Equatorial Guinea hosts the event which runs January 17 to February 8 in the four towns of Malabo, Bata, Ebebiyin and Mongomo.
According to the break down, the teams that will play in the third and fourth play-off will each pocket UGX2,175,000,000 (US$750,000), while the four teams that fall out at the quarter final stage take UGX1,885,000, 000 (US$600,000).
For finishing third in each of the four groups, the teams will take UGX1,450,000,000  (US$500,000), while those that are bottom of the groups have UGX1,160,000,000 (US$400,000) to take home.
The tournament starts with two games on Saturday as hosts Equatorial Guinea face Congo before Burkina Faso line-up against Gabon at the Estadio de Bata.
The other 12 teams competing for the coveted trophy include Zambia, DR Congo, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Ghana, Senegal, Algeria, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali and Cameroon.
