78 Defect to NRM Ahead of Museveni Kabale Rallies

A total of 78 people have defected from the Forum for Democratic Change to the National Resistance Movement-NRM party ahead of president Museveni's three day visit in Kabale.

The group made public their decision last night at Kakabano Upper Bugongi, Northern division of Kabale municipality at a function which had been organised by the locals to congratulate Ugandan Premier Ruhakana Rugunda upon his appointment.
 
Most of them are from Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party and Go Forward pressure group of John Patrick Amama Mbabazi.
 
 Among them is Robert Rwomushana a staunch FDC supporter from Kamuganguzi Sub county, Saul Agaba, Apollo Garubanda, Julius Byaruhanga all from Kabale northern division.
 
Julius Byaruhanga told our reporter that he has realized that the opposition had no basis to oppose the ruling government but rather misleading locals.
 
 Sheik Kassim Kamugisha the chairperson of the NRM youth league for Kabale district told Uganda Radio Network that the locals had organised the party in appreciation of the appointment of their son to the top job.
 
He says that this has given them strength to regain more support in Kabale Municipality which he says had been lured by the opposition to their side.
 
Kamugisha says that this time round, the municipality will see a shift with the ruling party having the capacity to perform better than before.
 
While receiving the defectors, Ugandan premier Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda called for unity among members of the public, if development is to be realized.
 
Rugunda also asked the locals to support the NRM party to enable the government implement the pending development Projects.
