3-year-old Dies in Kalungu House Fire

Police in Kalungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a three year old boy in a house fire.
 
The incident occurred at around 7am on Friday morning at Kibisi village, Kalungu rural, Kalungu District.
 
The deceased has been identified as Joseph Jjingo, the son of William Jjingo.
 
Joseph lost his life after the house his parents had left him in mysteriously caught fire. His parents had gone to work in their garden.
 
It is believed the child could have lit a candle which started the fire that spread from the bedroom to the rest of the house. Property worth millions of shillings was also lost in the fire.
 
The Southern Regional Fire Brigade Chief Moses Muhanguzi says that police could not save the toddlers’ life because by the time they reached the scene it was too late.
 
He urges parents not to leave their children unattended when they leave their homes.
 
The deceased’s body has been taken to hospital for postmortem examination as investigations into the cause of the fire begin.
