13 UPDF Officers Take Charge Of NAADS In Teso

The UPDF spokesperson for 3rd Division, Captain Jimmy Denis Omara, told Uganda Radio Network that two of the officers deployed in Teso are Lieutenant Colonels while the rest are at the rank of Major.
 
Captain Omara named the officers as Lt. Col. Filbert Oumo and Lt. Col. Peter Omoding who will be the overall overseer of the NAADS program in Teso. Others are Majors Okwakol deployed to Bukedea,  Ecodu Erisa in charge of Kapelebyong, and Esoku who coordinates activities in Pallisa. Also on the team are Major Joseph Okure in charge of Ngora, Charles Emasu for Kaberamaido, Charles Ocung for Serere and Opedo who will be based in Kumi.
 
For Amuria, the army has deployed Major Enos Okiror Ejoku, while Patrick Engoru will be in charge of Soroti Municipality. Major Osama and Gavas Otule will be in charge of Soroti and Toroma counties respectively.
 
The 13 army officers are among the 300 who were passed out on 22nd September 2014 at State House Entebbe after completing their short course at Makerere University.

President Yoweri Museveni recently decided to deploy the army to coordinate NAADS activities after accusing the officials previously running it of mismanaging the program. Museveni consequently announced that the army is going to take over the management of NAADS in the whole country.  
 
Government has been allocating 203 billion shillings to NAADS program annually in an attempt to fight poverty and create wealth at the house levels. The NAADS program has been running for the last thirteen years.
 
The army NAADS officers are headed by General Salim Saleh.
 
Dr. Patrick Eyudu who has been coordinating NAADS activities in Soroti District says his office is ready to work with the army officers.

He however added that his office has not yet got a formal communication and the new roles they are supposed to play in the NAADS program.
