The reigning Olympic marathon champion Stephen Kiprotich will take part in the Seven Hills Run in Holland on November 15th.

Speaking to URN on phone Kiprotich said he is taking the race very seriously including many others that will help shape him for the 2016 Olympic Games to take place in Brazil. The race in Netherlands will pit Kiprotich against new World marathon champion Ghirmay Ghebreslassie from Eritrea.

Ghebreslassie will be making his racing debut over 15km in the race, while Kiprotich does have an affiliation with the Seven Hills Run. At the age of 18, Kiprotich made his road-racing debut in this race back in 2007 where he finished fourth in a still-standing lifetime best of 44:28 in a race won by Ethiopian track great Sileshi Sihine.

Ghebreslassie caused one of the biggest upsets of the IAAF World Championships in Beijing where the Eritrean defeated one of the strongest fields ever assembled for a championship marathon including Dennis Kimetto, Wilson Kipsang, Lelisa Desisa and Kiprotich, who was looking to retain his world marathon title.

The Ugandan star said he has already embarked on training ahead of the Olympics because he is targeting to retain his position as Olympic marathon champions. He explained that although several runners have improved over time, he knows what it will take for him to get back to his best.

Kiprotich finished sixth at the 2015 World Championship in China where Ghebreslassie won and 21-year old Solomon Mutai won a bronze medal.
