After falling to USA on Thursday, coach Henry Oketcho's team needed to win to have any chance of reaching the final, but failed as they lost by 171 runs to a determined Nepal team.

Led by 19-year old Raju Rijal who recorded a game high 101 runs, the Nepal team battled first to put on 242/7 (50 overs). Uganda chased but collapsed at a miserable 71 (36.2 overs).

Aarif Sheifh and Yogendra Singh Karki also collected 54 and 30 runs respectively for Nepal, while John Gabula was Uganda's highest performer with the bat as he collected a return of 25 runs and Derrick Bakunzi 18.

In the second game played earlier Ireland beat Papua New Guinea by 11 runs. Ireland put on 271 (48.0), while their opponents collapsed at 160 (36.4). Uganda will return to the pitch on Sunday to take on Ireland.
