Book on Rwanda War Launched, Author Living in Fear

Veteran journalist, Justus Muhanguzi Kampe, yesterday launched his book titled Eyes of a Journalist, an eyewitness account of the 1990-1994 war--and genocide--in Rwanda. Muhanguzi however says he lives in fear because the publication has angered officials at the Rwanda embassy in Kampala. It is for this reason, according to Muhanguzi, that the book launch had been abruptly called off in April.

    As part of the countrywide radio talk shows aimed at popularising the now controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill, Museveni appeared on Voice of Kigezi in Kabale on Monday September 4 followed by Radio West in Mbarara on September 5. On September 6, the president was on Voice of Tooro in Fort Portal before he moved to Hoima for where he appeared on Spice FM on September 7. He was due to appear on Point FM in Mubende later today and Radio Buddu in Masaka tomorrow, September 9 to engage the listeners on the bill.

  • How Police Bungled Assault Case Against NRM Spokesperson

    Police is under the spotlight for mismanaging investigations into a criminal assault case filed by Uganda Radio Network Journalist Edward Bindhe against NRM party spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa. A police officer identified as Musa Bwambale, who was initially charged with investigating the matter, started tossing him alleging that the file had been misplaced and could only be found if he paid in some money. This went on until Maxwell Ogwal, the then Greater Masaka Police Commander, intervened and ordered Bwambale to produce the case file before he eventually assigned Samuel Mukesi to proceed with investigations.
